Husky's Heavy Oil & Gas Technical Services department is looking for a Facilities Engineer. This position is responsible for providing proactive technical Support to the Lloydminster Heavy Oil and Gas (HOG) business unit. A key focus is on stewardship and leadership for the numerous surface facilities from single well batteries to large heavy oil cleaning plants. The role will ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations and designs from a process engineering perspective.
This role focuses on support of the Thermal production and Water Treating facilities within the district.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting and optimization of facilities and equipment.
  • Support Husky's Management of Change (MOC) policy through design, evaluation and approval of proposed changes to existing facilities.
  • Identify process and equipment improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in HAZOP, P&ID, PSSR, incident reviews and other QNQC/HSE tasks pertaining to process.
  • Perform system reviews for adequate pressure protection and PSV sizing.
  • Provide technical support for day to day operations.

This position is based in Lloydminster, the successful candidate will be required to relocate to Lloydminster.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
  • A Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
  • A registered Professional Engineer designation with APEGA/APEGS, or be eligible for designation.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience
  • Working knowledge of piping codes B31.3 and Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z662
  • Working knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Section VIII Division 1 pressure vessel code
  • Experience working with a multidiscipline team providing technical guidance to Operations and Maintenance staff
  • Minimum 3 year's experience performing P&ID and HAZOP reviews
  • Minimum 3 years experience performing system/equipment over pressure protection reviews
  • Experience in the upstream oil and gas, refinery or petrochemical industries.Consideration will be given to experience in chemical or pulp and paper industries.
  • Experience in troubleshooting process systems and equipment
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Aspentech HYSYS Simulation - Intermediate Level
  • Neotec PIPEFLO Simulation - Intermediate Level
  • Highly motivated with a positive "can-do" attitude, and desire to grow job responsibility
  • Organized with ability to multi-task
  • Familiar with Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Assessment (PHA) processes.
  • Familiar with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and failure investigations
  • Valid, clean, Class 5 driver's license
