Job Summary 

This position is responsible for interfacing with Capital Projects group and providing the controls support regarding DCS hardware requirements, graphics, alarm rationalization and software configuration/ supervision of contractors.  This position allows the project engineers to have one contact and allows the Process Controls engineers and systems engineer to concentrate on Controls support and development of improved controls strategies.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Participate in project Hazops
  • Develop design of complex control strategies, keeping them similar to current strategies currently employed in the refinery
  • Identify any DCS/network infrastructure modifications and additions required for the project
  • Ensure cybersecurity hazard review is completed
  • Participate in design of any infrastructure modifications and additions
  • Responsible for assigning tag numbers and DCS I/O.
  • Identify any additional hardware and/or software licensing needs
  • Develop DCS tag database from Instrument index to be provided to DCS contractor for DCS configuration and operator graphics development
  • Support the DCS contractor(s) to develop new and modified operator graphics
  • Work with DCS contractor to develop, integrate, manage, and implement various DCS databases points, alarms, assets, SCADA data, alarm groups, operator menus, PHD/PI data, and PI graphics.
  • Lead alarm rationalization
  • Obtain alarm data required for alarm rationalization
  • Responsible for the accuracy of data imputed into the alarm database(s)
  • Identify and implement advanced alarm strategies
  • Responsible for the test DCS configuration during FATs and SATs
  • Assist start-up support, including of control loops
  • Complete post project cleanup of the control system

 

Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in Process Controls is required
  • Experience with DCS/controls project support to Capital Projects is desired
  • Experience with configuration of Honeywell Experion C-300 and HPMs controls and graphics is desired
  • Experience with Honeywell DCS hardware/software troubleshooting and maintenance is desired
  • 5+ years’ experience in refinery/chemical industry is desired
  • Hazop/LOPA experience
  • Experience in development and commissioning Safety Instrumented Systems

 

Education & Professional Designations

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical/Electrical Engineer or equivalent
  • Cybersecurity training/certification is an asset
  • Alarm Management training is an asset
  • SIS training/certification is an asset

 

Qualifications

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and with others in team environment.
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills

 

Working Conditions

  • This position is located at our Lima, OH Refinery
  • Limited lifting (<50 lbs)
  • Limited travel
