Job Summary

Reporting to the SCM Manager, US Manufacturing, this position will provide procurement related services to multiple US refinery stakeholders including a) maintenance, b) operations, and c) business development.  This is a senior level position responsible for establishing cost effective service/supply agreements through the use of significant strategy and negotiation with internal client participation for significant purchases required.  Position will provide procurement expertise demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of commodity products, supply chain sources, procurement strategies and business process/procedures


Core Responsibilities

  • Source various services and materials utilizing Cenovus Energy Sourcing Practice including all required strategy, award and contract documentation.

  • Assembles and reviews relevant RFP documents for scope of work, performance requirements and delivery schedules considering all commercial aspects of Cenovus Energy internal procedures. Reconciliation of the commercial and technical proposal with the RFP requestor

  • Reviews and negotiates contract terms and conditions in cooperation with Cenovus Energy Legal Counsel, Risk Management, Maintenance, Operations, and Technical Services personnel, as necessary.

  • Conduct post-award administration of larger/complex contracts (kick off meetings, progress review meetings, change management, reporting, disputes & claim mitigation, and performance management).

  • Identify Sources and support qualification with the business unit stakeholders following Cenovus Energy Supplier Life Cycle Management processes

  • Identify and capture contracting synergies for all US business units in collaboration with

  • Provide training and mentoring of co-workers and perform other procurement duties as required.



  •  8-10 years of experience in a procurement environment.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work from multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience in Oil and Gas Industry.
  • Experience in SAP.
  • Experience in CLM and ARIBA.
  • Experience with MS Office suite.
  • Knowledge of Procure to Pay (P2P) lifecycle.
  • Experience working with detailed operational Performance Metrics and reporting.
  • Investigative and analytical skill set to achieve problem identification and solution.
  • Understand Supply Chain Management processes.


Education & Professional Designations

  • High School diploma is required
  • Post-Secondary education is required
  • Supply Chain Management certification(s) are an asset
