About this opportunity:


We are currently recruiting for a Pipefitter at the Lloydminster Upgrader facility in Lloydminster, SK.   Reporting to the Pipefitter Team Lead, the primary function of the role is to provide support to a complex oil Upgrading facility, Cogen facility and Ethanol Plant.


In this role, you will be accountable for ensuring all work is executed in a timely, safe and effective manner consistent with corporate and site-specific policies, procedures and guidelines. You may be involved with the development and implementation of short term and long-term maintenance programs and standards.


Work Environment:

This position is based in Lloydminster and relocation to Lloydminster, SK/AB or surrounding area is preferred.  Successful candidate will be required to work in a wide variety of conditions due to the nature of the operation (working at heights, in confined spaces, with noise, in extreme weather conditions, toxic environments, working around moving and rotating equipment, etc.).  Overtime as required based on business needs and schedules.  Successful candidate will work a modified day shift with every other Friday off.



  • Ensure all work is conducted in a safe and efficient manner according to guidelines and regulations.
  • Read and interpret Isometric drawings and P&ID's
  • Fabrication of piping spools including as-built drawings and weld mapping.
  • Alignment and torqueing of flanges.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing process piping.
  • Executing work involving valves, piping, rigging and Securamax clamps.
  • Complies with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this Position's responsibilities
  • Support all work order processes as per Company standards



  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Journeyperson / Interprovincial Pipefitter Trade Certification (candidates registered as 4th Year apprentice will be considered).
  • For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and comply to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines.  A Driver’s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the Pre-employment Screening for the final candidate.
  • As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.
  • Minimum 3 years’ related experience working in a plant maintenance setting
  • Working knowledge, troubleshooting and repair of process piping
  • Working knowledge of valves, pipe, as well as rigging and Securamax clamps
  • Experience with the following would be an asset:
    • Oil & Gas industrial Maintenance experience
    • Cause Failure Analysis
    • OH&S Standards
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems, provide technical recommendations and implement short- and long-term solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with multi-disciplined personnel (i.e. Operations, Engineering, Planning, Husky trade personnel, contractors).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently or in a team setting.
  • Proficiency with computers is required (experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, and SAP would be considered an asset).
  • Strong safety commitment with an understanding of safety and regulatory standards and procedures.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Skilled organizational skills – able to schedule and maintain work assignments
