Job Summary

Under the direction of the Refinery and Terminal Operations Managers, the Entry Level Laborer-Refinery AND Terminals Performs a wide variety of operations, maintenance and general labor tasks in an industrial petroleum plant or a fuels terminal. Performs work in a way that is consistent with standard operating procedures, specifications, and regulatory standards, with attention to safe, timely and cost-effective operations. Work is performed both inside and outside, in a variety of weather conditions and is considered physically demanding.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • REFINERY: Loading a variety of products into railcars and tanker trucks; train and work for Process Unit Operations when needed; perform assignments in Maintenance when available
  • TERMINALS: Perform work associated with liquid product handling of a variety of chemicals and petrochemicals by way of pipeline and tank transfers, tank truck loading and unloading, and ship fueling.  Completes daily facility inspections, housekeeping chores on grounds and buildings and snow removal activities.
  • Maintain required records for loading, inventory, distributions, and equipment
  • Aide technicians and mechanics performing mechanical, electrical and instrumentation maintenance as trained and within scope of position.

 

Experience

  • 0-5 years working in an industrial setting is an asset
  • 2 years of professional work experience is an asset
  • Experience in petroleum, transportation, or lubricants-related field is an asset
  • Experience (3 - 5) in a live Refinery or products terminal environment is an asset
  • Basic understanding of fluid flow, hydraulics, fuel oils
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Committed to working safely
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Possesses good dexterity and close attention to details
  • Mathematical computation skills
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft office and its applications
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions as outside work is required


Education & Professional Designations

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Associate degree, BA/BS or college coursework, Trade School is an asset
