Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing technical and functional expertise and leadership in process safety for the entity. Additionally, this position will support the implementation and sustainment of SOI&E processes that are aligned with Husky's Operational Integrity Management System (HOIMS) and ensure compliance to regulatory standards and statutes for all aspects of SOI&E specific to the operations of the assigned entity. This position will partner with the entity to promote a High Reliability Organization with a focus on continuous improvement. 

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Assure Major Accident Hazards (MAH) have been identified within each entity and safety critical barriers are in place and are properly maintained to prevent an MAH.
  • Ensure that equipment and controls are being operated within the operating windows and parameters established for the facility as per the requirement in HOIMS Element 4.
  • Coach & mentor leadership and personnel within each entity on occupational safety while driving towards a High Reliability Organization as per the requirements set out in HOIMS Element 1. This includes coach and mentor site leadership to assure safety system impairments are properly managed and risk is reduced to as low as reasonably practicable as per the requirements set out in HOIMS Element 3.
  • Provide an LOD 2 assurance for start-up and shutdown of equipment, alarm management systems, management of change, RBMI programs that meets the requirements set out in HOIMS Element 6, 12, & 13.
  • Fostering collaboration between the Deployed SOI&E team and the Central SOI&E Team, leveraging the Technical Authorities and multi-disciplinary support as a conduit for communication.
  • Support the proper classification and investigation of process safety incidents. This includes coaching and mentoring site leadership to own and drive the actions to prevent re-occurrence.  
  • Participate in system level hazard assessments, identifying system threats and vulnerabilities to assist in the design, commissioning and startup, and operations of the assets as per the HOIMS requirements set out in Element 3.

 

Experience

  • 5 yrs. experience supervising staff
  • 5-7 yrs. experience in a SOI&E environment
  • 3-5 yrs. experience with Root Cause Analysis and Incident Investigations
  • 3-5 yrs. working knowledge of performing safety audits and inspections
  • 3-5 yrs. working knowledge of SAP or other Enterprise software
  • 3-5 yrs. experience working with 3rd party consultants and contractors
  • Minimum 10 yrs. Experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Working knowledge of Regulatory requirements in and oil and gas environment
  • Reference SOI&E Deployed Competency Matrix
  • Leadership Training
  • Auditing of Quality Systems

 

Education & Professional Designations

  • Related post-secondary education or equivalent experience is required
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Class 5 driver’s license is required
  • Adult Trainer / Teacher Certification is an asset
  • Competency Management Program Certification (or equivalent) is an asset
  • Human Resource Management Certification is an asset

 

Working Conditions

  • You may be required to work in a wide variety of conditions due to the nature of the operation (working at heights, in confined spaces, with noise, in extreme weather conditions)
