Job Summary
Our Refinery Asset Team is currently looking for a Staff Production Engineer to lead the team in the Toledo Refinery located in Toledo, Ohio. The Toledo refinery is owned by BP-Husky Refining LLC which is a joint venture between BP and Cenovus Energy.  BP is the operator of the facility. 

 

The Staff Production Engineer is the "go-to" expert for field production related knowledge for a process unit complex. The Production Engineer has the leadership capability to routinely fill in for and backup the Operations Superintendent. The Production Engineer determines the daily status of personal safety, process safety, and compliance, and intervenes as necessary to drive performance. The Production Engineer is accountable to establish expectations and drive their organization to thoroughly assess, understand, and control personal safety risk through the use of safe work permits and compliance with procedures. They are accountable to establish expectations and drive the 24/7 team and the Asset Squad to continuously reduce process safety risk through compliance with procedures, operating limits, the MOC process, and completion of action items. The Production Engineer leads the PSM compliance effort on behalf of the Operations Superintendent.

 
Core Responsibilities

  • Owns safe operating procedures content, accuracy, and usefulness on behalf of the Operating Superintendent.
  • Sets expectations and provides a layer of assurance for compliance.
  • On behalf of the Operations Superintendent, leads the Asset Squad to drive continuous improvement and long term sustainability of the business.
  • Provides leadership to the Asset Squad to ensure the short and long term plans are delivered.
  • Accountable for developing, monitoring, and delivering the operating budget.

 

Experience

  • 5+ years experience working in the oil and gas industry
  • Good computer skills and proficient with MS Office applications

  • Extensive database experience required for data input, generating reports and building search queries.

  • Superior attention to detail, thoroughness and accuracy.

  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills sufficient to convey both factual and conceptual information requiring detailed explanation and interpretation to staff, professional and business groups.

  • Strong leadership orientation that includes coaching, development of staff and guidance of individuals toward goal achievement.

  • Superior analytical skills to identify key issues based on relevant data and provide appropriate solutions/recommendations.

  • Ability to work in a team environment dealing with people from various disciplines to achieve goals and to identify and resolve problems.

  • Display innovative and creative thinking to improve existing processes and focus on continuous improvement initiative.

 

Education & Professional Designations

  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
