Job Title: Summer Student, Minnedosa Ethanol Operations
Location: Minnedosa, MB
Start Date: May 7, 2019
Length of Term: 4 months

Key responsibilities may involve:
·Assisting operators in the activity of monitoring and verifying various plant parameters using online and offline instruments in different sections of the plant (i.e. viz. pH, temperature, flow quantity, weight, strength, concentration, valve operation etc.)
·Assisting in sample collection from designated ports on the vessel or pipes
·Analyzing samples on gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, moisture analyzer, coulometer, densitometer and other lab instruments independently or with minimal supervision
·Perform lab and plant trials
- Must be returning to studies at a recognized post-secondary institution in the fall following the work term
- Strong academic 2nd, 3rd or 4th year Microbiology student
- Analytical chemistry/wet chemistry experience in a lab environment
- Petroleum industry experience directly related to plant and/or facility operations would be an asset
- Experience/knowledge in preparing standard test solutions and standardization
- Ability to follow safety procedures and safely handle samples, test reagents and instruments
- Strong proficiency in MS Office
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Extensive mobility combined with the ability to work in a physically demanding environment (i.e. work at various heights to gather samples from designated ports on vessel or pipes)
- Must be able to work eight-hour day shift work with occasional 12 hour working

This is a safety sensitive role and as such you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the Husky pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
As this position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e. issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver’s abstract, for the preceding 5 year period, if offered the position. A valid Canadian class 5 Drivers License with no restrictions (i.e. non GDL) is a requirement for this role.
Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment to assist with relocation expenses.
Candidates must have their own means of transportation as there is no public transportation in field locations.
